Matt Grubaugh
Matt GrubaughGuitar & Vocals

Matt Grubaugh is a Southern California–born guitarist and vocalist whose musical roots run deep. Inspired by his mother, a classically trained concert pianist, Matt developed a love of music early in life and picked up his first guitar at age 15.

Influenced by Creed, Sevendust, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Alice in Chains, Matt found inspiration in heavy riffs, powerful melodies, and emotionally honest songwriting. Guitarist Mark Tremonti and vocalist Scott Stapp have been especially influential in shaping his approach to playing and singing.

Over the years, Matt has brought his voice and guitar work to rock bands including Ithamar, 7th Strain, and Wayward Scars. His performance history includes Hollywood’s legendary Whisky a Go Go, the Rainbow Room, the 2009 Warped Tour, and MTV’s Rock the Vote. His music has also received airplay on X103.9 in San Bernardino and 93.7 KCLB Rock in Palm Springs.

With his most recent band, Wayward Scars, Matt continued to build on that experience, with Hoobastank drummer Chris Hesse appearing on the band’s song “Home.”

From the music of the piano that filled his childhood to the energy of the rock stage, Matt’s journey has been driven by a lasting love of music, God and the connections it creates.
